"Believe"

We are on the same team; we want each other to succeed.

Believe:

As we journey forward, guided by our faith and personal growth, we continue to review principles outlined in "Extreme Ownership" by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin, distinguished former Navy SEAL officers.

At the core of our reflection lies the principle of "Belief." Within this principle, the book asserts the necessity for leaders to possess unwavering confidence in their ability to influence and steer the outcomes of their team's endeavors. By knowing the mission and trusting it. This entails not only trusting in one's own capabilities but also instilling that same conviction in each member of the team. By fostering a culture of ownership and accountability, leaders empower their teams to seize control of their actions and outcomes, leading to collective success.

As believers we don’t trust in our own ways but trust in Yeshua. Even with this there are items that we can still learn from. As there is a distinct mission which is found in Mathew 22 37:40: 37Jesus declared, “ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your minds’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” which we will disuse during the planning principle as well.

As leaders within our families, it prompts us to question: do we hold a clear understanding of our family's mission? Have we engaged in open dialogue with our loved ones to define and communicate our shared purpose?

To truly believe in a mission, we must first articulate it and communicate it effectively. This introspection begins at the family unit—the fundamental cornerstone of society. As leaders within our households, it beckons us to define our familial mission.

Our Family Mission Statement stands as follows:

"As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15

Rooted in the teachings of Scripture, our family is dedicated to living in harmony with God's divine will and purpose for our lives. Guided by love, compassion, and integrity, we strive to exemplify these virtues in every facet of our existence. Recognizing our role as stewards of the blessings and responsibilities bestowed upon us by God, we endeavor to uphold His divine principles in all our endeavors. This is the aim though at times we miss.

In embracing the "Belief" Principle of Extreme Ownership, we draw inspiration from the unwavering commitment of Joshua to serve the Lord. As a family unit, we wholeheartedly embrace the ethos of Extreme Ownership, understanding that we are accountable for the outcomes of our collective actions and decisions. We take full responsibility for shaping the trajectory and success of our family, acknowledging that our beliefs and actions mold our destiny.

To ensure our family understands the mission outlined in Joshua 24:15 and the principles of Extreme Ownership, it's imperative to lead by example and actively engage in open dialogue regarding our shared purpose. Proverbs 22:6 advises, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."  As leaders within our households, we must consistently communicate and reinforce our commitment to serving the Lord and embodying the values outlined in our family mission statement. By demonstrating unwavering faith and ownership in our actions, we inspire our loved ones to internalize these principles and actively contribute to our collective journey. Failure to instill this understanding may lead to discord, confusion, and a lack of direction within the family unit. Proverbs 29:18 reminds us, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," emphasizing the importance of clarity and alignment in fulfilling our familial mission. Without a shared understanding of our purpose and a commitment to Extreme Ownership, we risk drifting aimlessly and failing to fulfill God's intended plan for our family's legacy.  It is incumbent upon us as leaders to ensure our family comprehends and embraces our mission, empowering each member to contribute meaningfully to our shared vision of serving the Lord.

Through a steadfast commitment to ownership and accountability, we empower each member of our family to take ownership of their roles and contributions. By fostering a culture of unity, resilience, and growth, we strive to honor God in every aspect of our family life.

Our family mission statement, Joshua 24:15, serves as a guiding beacon for our collective journey in faith and purpose. In embracing the belief principle of Extreme Ownership, we pledge to uphold our commitment to serving the Lord and fulfilling His divine will for our lives. With unwavering faith and a resolute dedication to ownership and accountability, we endeavor to build a legacy of unity, resilience, and growth for generations to come.
